Design Studio 1B/Spring 2017 Woodbury University/Flood Heather

Studio 1B

Studio 1B consisted of producing model bars by a given material and connection method. Craft foam was used to produce the bars. The foam was laminated and curved and strategically glued together. From the series of bars made one was selected to digitally reproduce. Once the model digitized it was manipulated to create a new bar. That new bar was reproduced using 3D printing and staked laser cut pieces. 5 bars were arranged to produce a massing model on the site (Mariachi plaza, Boil Heights Los Angeles CA). The massing model was assigned a program of a library, computer room, theater, and café. The arranged bars were joined to create a continues Structure.
