Studio 2A

For studio 2A centrally planed churches were used as precedents. The churches were studies and analysis. Analytical diagram of the geometric composition both in plan and section were generated. Using the diagrams an original plan and section were produced. Using the plan a contour model was created. Using the contoured model a 45 degree oblique drawing was generated. Having an understanding form can be produced be a plan. The diagram of the church was translated into a computation drawing program (grasshopper). In Grasshopper the diagram and manipulated keeping the symmetrical properties of the original diagram. 9 new variants were produced each with its own use of symmetry. A chosen variant was then conformed to better fit on a circular site. An aquatic center program was assigned to the new diagram. The diagram was manipulated to better house the program. Comprehensive and extensive plans sections and an oblique drawing were produced

Saint Giovanni Dei Fiorentini is an unbuilt church designed by Michelango Buonarroti in 1559. It is a centralized plan consisting of four identical quadrants. Two walk ways perpendicular at the center. The walk way forms an inscribed square by connecting the outer corners. That square is then rotated 45 degree on center to determine four interior oval spaces. The four interior spaces are oval have five circles distributed around the perimeter of the oval. The circles are arranged one in each quadrant with one on the far outer end intersected with by the center line. The circles are intercepted by the oval at two quadrants making them half circles. Circles from the center of the church determine the placement of all the interior and exterior walls. The interior dome is one circle the position of the oval is the next then the outer walls around the oval and the furthest one is the rectangular outer wall at the end of the four walk ways. The building was two ceiling heights a lower level around the perimeter and the center dome. The very top has a lantern with cylindrical drum with a spherical dome at the top.
