Materials and Methods
Material and Methods was a group-based project the group consisted of Anahit Antanyan Jackelyn Tejada and myself. The project started with a case study of a build with an emphasis on how the material and build practice influenced the building. The Ennis House by Frank Lloyd Wright was studied. The house was constructed using textile-block technique. The relation between the geometric concrete blocks and the wood element became a subject of interest for the group. Elements from the project were extracted and used to create a new build with the ambiance, material and, techniques from the case study building. Experiments on concrete and wood and how they can work together were cared out. After learning more about the strengths and limitations of the materials a final design was created to be built. The build was carried out full scale.
